Our free positive self-talk coping statements poster is a helpful reminder of kind and compassionate things we can tell ourselves when going through a tough time. You can hang this in your classroom, office, or hallway bulletin board. Includes smaller reference cards you can cut out and share with students, too!  That way, they can keep a copy in their planner,  locker, or even pocket, too!

The way you speak to yourself matters.  Language has power.  In other words, it can be very helpful to speak to yourself  like you would to someone you love and care about.  The coping statements featured in this list invite self-compassion and kindness.

Examples of Coping Statements Featured in this Free SEL Poster

  • It’s okay if I don’t feel okay.
  • This feeling is uncomfortable, but it won’t last forever.
  • I can do hard things.
  • I just need to take it one step at a time.
  • I’d like something else, but I can handle this too.

Make sure to check out our collection of free SEL resources, many of which contain other helpful coping statements.  You may also really enjoy our Positive Self-Talk Game, in addition to our Positive Self Talk Lesson, which teaches kids the difference between their inner critic versus their inner coach.

With COVID closing our local school and us having to suddenly embrace home school I needed to fill our home with positivism and uplifting words – this fit the bill perfectly.
