AFFIRMATIONS FOR DIFFICULT TIMES

Our free positive self-talk coping statements poster is a helpful reminder of kind and compassionate things we can tell ourselves when going through a tough time. You can hang this in your classroom, office, or hallway bulletin board. Includes smaller reference cards you can cut out and share with students, too!  That way, they can keep a copy in their planner,  locker, or even pocket, too!

The way you speak to yourself matters.  Language has power.  In other words, it can be very helpful to speak to yourself  like you would to someone you love and care about.  The coping statements featured in this list invite self-compassion and kindness.

  • It’s okay if I don’t feel okay.
  • This feeling is uncomfortable, but it won’t last forever.
  • I can do hard things.
  • I just need to take it one step at a time.
