Description

TEACH KIDS SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILLS WITH THESE FUN FORTUNE TELLERS!

Children love using these fun SEL games!.  After all, what kid do you know who doesn’t love a good old fashioned fortune teller?  Your students will  be super engaged as they put together and play their very own unique game!

These fortune tellers, also known as cootie catchers and chatterboxes, include the following topics: growth mindset, self-esteem, positive affirmations, things I can control, coping skills for the classroom, and conflict resolution.

Each of the 6 fortune teller sets includes a lesson plan, multiple fortune tellers, both ready-made and customizable for kids to color, and fun Top 50 Lists specific to each SEL subjects.

First, students will refer to the list of the top 50 strategies that are included for each topic.  Second, they will identify 8 of the most helpful and meaningful tools.  Then they will write them down on one of the templates.   Next, students assemble their fortune teller, which involves following directions and using other executive functioning skills.  And last but not least, they get to play their SEL games!  Best of all, when students use their fortune teller, they are developing hand-eye coordination and experience positive social interaction.  In short, your students will be begging to play more, all the while building a skill that will help them to cultivate healthy social skills.

Ways to Use These SEL Games

  • Integrate into your guidance lessons and social emotional learning curriculum.
  • Tons of fun for small groups and lunch bunches.
  • Use cootie catchers as solution focused tool when counseling individual students.
  • Interactive paper craft activity is fun to do at home with the family, too!

Love this resource! I had my students go around the school to other teachers room and use the fortune teller. It made everyone’s day. They got back and used it in the classroom with each other. Great resource! Thank you

I used the self-esteem fortune teller first with an individual student. She enjoyed it, and it worked to help build her self-esteem.

So versatile. Elementary kiddos love these. I’ve used them in classroom lessons, small groups, individual sessions, and even as follow up for a student who needed a reminder during virtual learning.
