WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

My 4th graders loved it. I felt like I tricked them into learning while having fun. My suggestions for use are to block off enough time because the students will want to finish the game…I needed at least 45 minutes, but I’m more of a go with the flow person and my teachers are flexible. The lesson was worth the time and I didn’t want to rush the learning process. If you are a counselor who prefers 20-30 minutes lessons then use a timer to keep it flowing, set your expectations, and know how you will divide your kids in groups first. I don’t think you will want to rush through this one though. Anita always has good suggestions to open and close her lessons. They are all so thorough! There are so many teachable moments that arise while playing… I always find more than one occasion for students to practice I-messages to solve problems that arise during the game. Giving each student a handout was extremely beneficial too and I love that I could send them home with a visual of the lesson. 10/10 would recommend! This was a fun and fresh way to change up teaching I-messages. Sometimes change is good 🙂

I used this game show while teaching SEL to fourth and fifth graders. The kids really got into using IMessages to play a game. Give yourself at least 45 minutes.

This is a wonderful resource! Sometimes I struggle to find fun, appropriately-aged activities for my sixth grade students, however, this was perfect. They had a lot of fun, were fully engaged, and learned some new information!
