Why Teach Kids About Practicing Gratitude?

Practicing gratitude cultivates joy and positivity, key feelings that lay a foundation from which to create an empowered life. Focusing on what we appreciate is also a healthy coping skill for when times feel overwhelming and get tough.  Children who practice gratitude tend to be  more optimistic, happier, and have better social support.  Moreover, young people who practice gratitude tend to be satisfied with their lives, have higher grades, and be more engaged in their hobbies and classrooms. Additionally, kids and teens who practice gratitude are more engaged in their schoolwork and hobbies, and have better grades.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

I used this resource to support a bi-quarterly reflection activity. Sometimes my students need sentence stems to help jumpstart the conversation and reflection. This resource is a good reminder that we always have something to e grateful for and that it’s important to take the time to focus on those positives! Thank you for this colorful resource!

We are incorporating SEL at our school and a lot of our students have anxiety this year as a result of covid and don’t know how to cope. The teachers and students really liked this resource and found it very helpful.

I found this for my 9 years old “home school” area, it is perfect. She loves reading it to herself when she gets a little down. I laminated it for her to color on when she needs a little calm down time as well. Thank you!
